Illustrator Homework 1
The clipping mask tool is an option you can use in Illustrator. This tool allows u to clip certain patterns or colors into a shape. The video goes through how to use the clipping tool and all the layering capabilities you have with the process. I think this tool was will be easy to use, and I think that it will allow for me to create all different types of interesting background patterns for business logos. I think the video was very informative and it was great at explaining the process in simple and easy to follow terms. I found it interesting that he broke down the topic very fast, but I could still understand every step and direction needed to get the final result.
Video 2 (Knife, Scissors, and Eraser Tools)
The tools discussed in this video are the eraser, scissors, and knife. The video starts off with how the eraser tool works, this tool is one of the easier tools to use in Illustrator. It allows you to get rid of certain parts of text, shapes, or backgrounds; this tool will be useful when I want to manipulate font or text in my work to fit other parts of the design. The scissor tool seems a bit hard to use, you can only use it on anchor points in your design. It is another tool to make changes to font or shapes and then get rid of certain parts that you don't like. The knife tool spilts pieces of the shape and is another way to facilitates change in your design. Although it is not as accurate as the eraser or scissors tool because, it loosely follows the path you create with the tool. All of these tools can be used to change and get rid of certain parts of a pattern, shape, or writing that you do not like. I think the most interesting part of this video was how many different ways Illustrator gives you to manipulate your design.
In this video, you are taught how to use the "Pen Tool" in Illustrator. The pen tool is used to create points anchor points, and paths; it gives the user another way to produce a unique shape or design. I think the pen tool will be vital in being able to come up with my own special shape. The video was interesting because not only does he show you how to use the pen tool with a mouse, but he also shows you different shortcuts you can do on the keyboard to make the process faster. He also gives different hints to keep in mind when outlining images to use for reference in future projects you could work on. I think this tool will be difficult to get use to using, but eventually you will learn how to manipulate the pen tool to your liking.
