Introduction

 Hi! My name is Nia Yost. I am from a small neighborhood outside of Chicago, IL. I grew up in a town called Channahon,  and have lived there all of my life. Recently, I moved to Tampa, Florida in order to pursue further education at the University of Tampa! I moved down to Tampa mainly because of the amazing weather and Tampa's campus is so beautiful. 

Growing up, I had a lot of hobbies. Many of the hobbies I had were sports and other recreational activities. I have been swimming for twelve years of my life. I started out on a club team called, The Blue Tides. This team was extremely impactful to me. I played basketball, soccer, rock-climbing, track, and open water swimming. 

I would say I am a very quiet, but kind individual. I like to hangout with friends, but I also enjoyed reading for a few hours by myself.  Reading has been one of my major hobbies throughout my life, currently I am trying to read my height in books in one year. I enjoy all genres, however fantasy and botanical nonfiction are my favorites. 

I am really looking forward to this class. I have always wanted to become more skilled in the computer/digital area. I would say I am not technologically advanced, but I am willing to try it out. So excited, for all the projected detailed in the syllabus!

Original Image:  Additional Images:  Artist Statement: This project was one of the harder projects I had to complete this year. Starting off, I did not know what I wanted to do, or how I wanted to manipulate my image. Originally, I was only going to use nature as the images to mask and add onto my own self portrait; however, I wanted to be more original than that. I decided that I would stick with the nature theme, but add on more of an environmental conservation theme. So, I went to course of pollution, greenhouse emissions, and other ideas that revolve around activities that have been hurting the earth. I wanted to portray a contrast between hurting the earth and loving the nature it provides us with. Some of the images I included were of coal power plants, oil spills, smog in India, and trash pollution in our oceans. Somewhere Project

  Original Scene Photo:  Original Personal Photo: Artist Statement: For this project we had to incorporate ourselves into a movie, series, or famous photo. I choose to include myself in my favorite film, Good Will Hunting. This movie has always held a special place in my heart, from heart-breaking therapy scenes to the intellectual content, and breath-taking cinematography talent from the director Gus Van Sant. The score of the film is also one of the best parts of the film. I first watched this movie after going on a Matt Damon movie watching spree with my dad. I will never forget the amazing acting that was displayed in this movie both by Matt Damon and Robin Williams.   To start this art piece, I began with watching the movie trying to find a scene that I thought would be easier to edit myself into. Business Cards

Artist Statement:  For this project I used the Adobe System, InDesign. Through the tools and applications of InDesign, I was able to make three different business cards. These business cards have a few facets: I included my logo in all three of the cards, my cell phone number is also included, a website to reach me at, and an email. Giving multiple ways of communication is always a good idea when it comes to business cards. I choose mainly pastel colors when designing my business cards. I chose pastel color because I think they worked best with the logo I chose.  However, I did make one of the business cards a bright red; I chose red to be one of the colors since it really “pops” out at a viewer and makes it “unforgettable”. I think the black and white logo really works the best with all the colors I chose.   While making this project, I struggled a few times.
