Internet/World Wide Web Post

     According to Britannica, the internet is a network that connect a numerous amount of computers from many different countries. Through the Internet, people can connect and share information from any point on earth to any other point on earth. The Internet location wise is limitless, as along as you have internet connection. The Internet was not just invented by one individual, it consists of multiple technologies invented by a vast number of people. The most influential creators include: Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn. Technically, the technology for the Internet was invented and was used in the 1960s for military purposes, however; the Internet's official birthday is January 1st, 1983. At the start of its usage, it was a primary source for communication between scientists. Now, the Internet is used for numerous agendas. The main purpose of the Internet currently, is to build knowledge and connect people.

    The World Wide Web, also referred as WWW, is not to be confused with the internet. World Wide Web is an interconnected series of public webpages that can be used through connection to the Internet. Tim Berners-Lee was the inventor of the World Wide Web. As reported by, CERN, it was created in 1989 to help meet the need for information-sharing between universities and institutions across the world. The WWW was first used as a global information system. Today, the World Wide Web is used to share work, ideas, information, sites, blogs, photos, and other messages across the world. 

    The Internet and the World Wide Web are two separate entities. Internet is the process of connecting computers anywhere in the world; World Wide Web is a collection of information can only be accessed through connection to the Internet. In short, the WWW and the Internet work together in order to provide information to different computers all across the world. 

    The first website to ever be launched contained information on the World Wide Web Project. This Information included how to use the WWW. It was created by Tim Berners-Lee on August 6,1991. You can still access the first website through the company CERN.
